The small city of Woodway, TX, is located just southwest of Waco along US 84 in McLennan County. As part of the Waco metropolitan area, Woodway is home to fewer than 9,000 people across 6.6 square miles of land.

Woodway was formed in the early 1950s in response to Waco’s efforts to annex the area. A group of citizens got together and formed Woodway, naming their community in tribute to the surrounding oak and cedar forests. The Carleen Bright Arboretum is a free local attraction open daily, consisting of six acres of gardens, an amphitheater, a chapel and a rental facility. Woodway Park sits on Lake Waco as another popular outdoor venue. The Cardinal is Woodway’s official bird.
