The largely suburban city of Hewitt, TX, is located south of Waco along Interstate 35 in McLennan County. As part of the Waco metropolitan area, Hewitt is home to roughly 14,000 people across almost seven square miles of land, all under the motto, “Life Just Right.”

The community was first established in the 1880s with the donation of land by John A. Warren, the town’s first businessman. The site was named in 1883 for George A. Hewitt, a local railroad employee. Hewitt flourished well into the 20th century through farming and agriculture, growing steadily for decades. The new city was incorporated in 1960, the population exploded further in the 1970s, and Hewitt recently ranked among the country’s best places to live.
